Click on the forgot password link and reset your password.
How long does it take to complete my profile?
If you have all the information available, it should take you roughly 30 minutes to complete.
Do I have to fill in all the fields?
Yes! The more complete your CV the easier it will be for recruiters to select your profile and invite you to an interview.
What is the scoring system I see?
The scoring system is there to show you how complete your CV is. It will also be the basis of a rewards system in the future.
How does it help me?
The higher the score the more complete your cv and therefore the easier it will be for recruiters to make an educated decision whether or not to invite you to an interview.
Why must I give my address?
We initially need your street address for us to get your correct suburb and city. SJF does not save nor collect your physical address. It is deleted the moment we have your suburb and city.
Why do you need my Psira details?
If you are in a category where you need a Psira registration to work in security, then it is necessary for recruiters to verify that you are indeed registered.
Why do you need my competency details?
Some roles require you to use a company issued firearm. We try to make the recruiters' life as easy as possible and give them all the information they need to make an informed decision whether or not to interview you. If you don't answer these questions, you will be excluded from recruiters looking to hire armed security personnel.
What if I don't have a Psira registration?
Some categories of personnel like admin etc. do not need to be registered. Just put N/A. If you are in a category that requires you to be psira registered then you can't work until such time that it has been finalised.
What if I don't have copies of my certificates?
You just need to give the dates, course details, institution details and certificate number. If you don't have it, get a copy from your training institution.
What do I write under the About me section?
This is where you get to sell yourself to recruiters by explaining to them why they should hire you, and what makes you the perfect candidate for them.
What do I write under my career objectives?
By including this section, you demonstrate that you have a clear vision for your future and that you are motivated to achieve your goals. This can help employers understand how you see yourself fitting into their organization and how you can contribute to their success in the long term.
How do I complete my work history?
This section on a CV is often called a 'summary of qualifications' or 'skills summary' and it's an opportunity for you to highlight your unique skills, experiences, and achievements that make you a strong candidate for the job. By including this section, you can demonstrate to potential employers how you can add value to their organization and what sets you apart from other candidates. This can help employers quickly understand your strengths and how you can contribute to their success.
Why do I have to put duties and responsibilities on my CV?
Including your duties and responsibilities on your CV is important because it gives potential employers a clear understanding of your previous work experience and what you were responsible for in your past roles. This information can help employers assess whether your skills and experiences are a good match for the job they are hiring for. By including specific examples of your duties and responsibilities, you can demonstrate how you have applied your skills in the past and how you can contribute to the success of the organization.
Why do I have to give my references?
Providing references on your CV is important because it allows potential employers to verify the information you have provided and to gain additional insights into your skills, experiences, and work ethic. References can provide valuable information about your past performance and can help employers assess whether you would be a good fit for their organization. By including references on your CV, you demonstrate that you are confident in your abilities and that you have a strong track record of success. Please note: It's generally not recommended to include references from companies where you were fired/dismissed from. This is because these references may not provide a positive or accurate representation of your skills and abilities. Instead, it's a good idea to focus on providing references from companies where you had positive experiences and where you left on good terms.
What if I don't have my references contact details?
It is important to contact your references to get their permission to add them as a reference on your CV. It is also important to make sure all their contact details are correct.
Why do you always ask for my permission to do things?
With the POPI act we are not allowed to use or share your information without your consent. If you do not give us permission to share your information with recruiters, your CV will not be made available to recruiters.
How do I get a printed copy of my cv?
Once your CV is completed and all your work history has been updated on the system, a button will appear on your profile page and under your work history. You will be asked to pay R50 to download a pdf copy of your cv, which you can then use to print out or email a professional looking copy of your cv to recruiters.
